  1. We just wanted to take a moment to thank you both for the incredible impact you’ve had on our lives.

    Mark, your teaching and leadership have shaped not only our faith, but also our marriage, our parenting, and how we walk with God each day. During one of the most difficult seasons in our lives, when we were struggling to stay together, your counsel helped us find our way back to each other. One thing you said during that time continues to guide us: “Kid/parent relationships are meant to grow apart, while husband/wife relationships are meant to grow closer.” That truth has stayed with us ever since.

    Because of your example and your faithfulness to Scripture—no matter how countercultural the message—we’ve both been encouraged to read through the Bible multiple times and to make it a foundation in our daily lives. We deeply appreciate your willingness to speak truth with both conviction and grace, especially on topics many shy away from.

    It’s been amazing to watch how God has used you to grow NewSpring, not just in numbers, but in depth and purpose. We count it a privilege to have been part of this church family since 2005. We’re grateful for your leadership and, even more so, for your faithfulness over the years.

    Mary Alice, though we haven’t had much personal interaction, we know your support and partnership behind the scenes have been essential to all that God is doing through this ministry. Thank you both for serving so faithfully.

  10. Dear Mary Alice and Mark-

    Words are too shallow for the gratitude I feel for your work at Newspring and in my life and my children’s lives. My two boys have believed in God since they were tiny and were baptized at 6 because of Newspring. I’ve gotten through breast cancer twice with God because of what I was taught here. When facing a particularly hard challenge, I did what Mark did- I went back and figured “What do I know is true about God?” Through all my ups and downs, Newspring was there to get me through… Mark somehow preaches in a way that feels like he’s addressing my current problems and challenges, knowing full well he has no idea. Many have said that exact same thing.

    My faith is what my faith is because of Mark’s teaching and articulate preaching. I cannot thank you enough for the tremendous impact you have had on my life for the last 17 years. You are one of the big reasons our church grows. You have a special place in my heart and always will…

  21. Congratulations on 40 years! I have been a part of NewSpring since 2010 when I was going through a divorce and lost the pastor in my home church. NewSpring soon became my home church! After my divorce, I wanted to find a way to serve God in a bigger way than Guest Services, which I enjoyed thoroughly! This was a time that a couple in the church had decided to start the DivorceCare program with your blessing. God worked on my heart and led me to participate as a facilitator in this program for 10 years and again when we start back up this year. This also led me to start a small group that has gone on for 7 years.
    Through Mark’s messages (and Jonathan & Stephen also), Book by Book and Small Group, I have experienced so much growth and understanding of the Bible and have grown my relationship with God. Thank you and your family for your dedication to this church and for teaching God’s Word in way that we can relate and understand! Truly a gift! And yes, every series is the best thing WE have ever been apart of!

  24. Congratulations on the many years with Messiah Baptist, and NEW SPRING.
    God has been leading me to NEW SPRING for many years. Not only through the Benner family and the fact that I was a close friend of Paula Clark’s, worked with her mother Alice at Haysville state bank, and had know Paul for many years.
    Huge coincidence is Jeff and I were married 40yrs ago June 8th of 1985 by Paul in Vern Millers back yard, by the pool, in Mulvane. Paula and Marty lived there at the time. So Jeff and I feel privileged to share an anniversary month with Mary Alice and you.
    Move ahead 3 yrs and we moved in Derby, Ks. On Westview. Just a few doors down lived the.Rosson family. As my son Steven got older and started making friends at school, Steven and Mathew Rosson became fast friends and we became friends with Phil and Marsha through our boys, and met Wendy when she was in middle. School. Years later I went to work at Walmart in Derby and Marsha was the human resource manager at that time. She invited me to New Spring all the time. Then 4 yrs ago this Christmas I finally attended church with the Benner’s for the first time, and immediately felt at home. After that, my husband, Jeff started watching on TV because I was talking about how great a place it was to go. He eventually decided to try it out and we’ve been there ever since.
    My great grandparents were Lutheran and came from Germany to Mulvane. So my family heritage has always been Lutheran. My parents were charter members of our Savior Lutheran Church at all. I was raised in church and was baptized as a baby that was probably one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make to get baptized as an adult at NEW SPRING but I finally did and things have changed ever since I’ve had some serious health issues lately and it’s so amazing to me that a church so large has people that call me and check on me to make sure I’m OK I sing in the choir because I’ve always believed that was my calling since the time I was in the fifth grade so I was singing in numerous choirs through the years, a lot of church, but never had the emotional involvement as I do and NEW SPRING I pray that through the ministry of the choir, we will continue to bring many people to Christ. I thank you, MARK and Mary Alice for the great knowledge you have brought to the Wichita community. It’s very obvious that GOD is on your side and I am very proud when I tell people I attend to NEW SPRING.
    I praise God for leading me to NEW SPRING. It’s been in the works all my life, and my faith has grown stronger because of it.
    I pray God blesses you and continues to help through you to bring more and more people to Christ every day.
    I’m sure sometimes you don’t realize the impact you have made on some people and I’m sure you thank God for that sincerely

    Congratulations on 40 years at NewSpring! What an amazing testament to God’s faithfulness in your lives. Danny and I have been blessed by you and your leadership in countless ways over the years. We are so thankful for your wisdom and kindness and your authenticity in the way you lead our church. Thank you for always standing firm on the word of God and never wavering. Thank you for being such an amazing example of what it looks like to live a Godly life. We love you both so much, and we can’t wait to see what God has in store for the future. We know the best is yet to come!
